Dogs are the most caring animals on earth. They’re not only our reliable and loyal companions, but they also excel in interspecies friendship.
Meet Stella, an adorable Maremma Sheepdog. This fluffy dog works at Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary in Australia, a place for orphaned, injured, or sick wombats. Stella’s job is to give support to her little wombat friends and keep them safe from hunters.
According to sanctuary management, Stella’s bred specifically to guard the animals in the sanctuary. The wombats know even at a young age that Stella’s their protector. She enjoys her job very much, and she watches over the animals, regardless of the size.
The management added that it’s beneficial that Stella gets to interact with the wombats before they release the little creatures to the wild. They’ll learn how to be around other animals, and Stella’s calm temperament makes the wombats feel secure.
In a viral video online, you’ll see Stella at work. In the clip, you’ll see her scratching her itchy tummy while a wombat’s beside her. Later on, the wombat thought the canine’s eating something, so he sniffed her fur and started munching it!
Sweet Stella looked at the wombat like saying that there’s no food in her fur. However, her little friend thought it’s okay to keep on munching. Instead of getting angry, Stella licked the wombat and didn’t react negatively when her little buddy nibbles her mouth and tongue.
It’s heartwarming that dogs develop a good relationship with other animals. One of their remarkable traits is that they’re always fascinated with other creatures. You’ll see countless videos of canines making friends with gophers, cats, birds, rabbits, or even ducks.
Stella’s gentle and kind attitude inspired many people. It’s a great joy that dogs exist because even if they can’t talk, they teach us an important lesson about friendship and genuine love.
